fight club/training school info;

THE SETUP
• A large single room with enough space to host two different activities, whether it's a class and a fighting ring, two classes, or two fighting rings.
• There's a storage closet for weapons. It contains some of the swords that Ivar made as well as any other weapons people have contributed.
• There's a steam room to relax a bit after a fight. And yes, things can get steamy in there (they can get steamy in the main room too, no one will stop you).
• It's generally unlocked and open 24/7 regardless of whether Terry or his other staff are there. The storage closet is locked when no staff are present. The main area has nothing much to steal unless you really want some sweaty towels. Any time someone needs to blow off steam, the doors are open.
• Both Rubeans and void-touched are welcome. Terry will not tolerate attempts to force Rubeans out. There will, of course, be times when no Rubeans are present simply because they're doing something else right now, though.
• Patrons are expected not to severely maim or murder each other. Things can get pretty bloody, Terry just doesn't want it to get a reputation as a place where people get murdered and mangled.
• Spectators are welcome and placing bets on the outcome of a fight is allowed (if someone cheats you out of your money, you'll probably have to fight them for it).
• Everyone is allowed regardless of the CR they have with Terry. Feel free to use it as a setting for your top-level at any time (you can also assume Terry's not there for it).
JOBS
• Teachers who want to teach their own fighting styles. Weapons and powers are allowed to be incorporated into lessons as long as it doesn't get so dangerous that people are dying on the regular. Terry will encourage anyone who wants to teach to give lessons to the Rubeans as well as the void-touched, but he won't force it.
• Supervisors whose job it is to stop a fight that's getting too brutal and get help if any signs of monster transformation are spotted. Terry will do this himself if he's there, but he's not there all the time and extra hands are always a plus.
• Clean-up Crew to, uh, deal with the blood and potentially other bodily fluids if things got a little spicy.
• Medics to render emergency care or tend to minor injuries that can be easily fixed.
• Anything else you can think of. If you want to inquire, feel free to contact me in this post, atdandymott, or technikiller @ discord.

HISTORY
1969 - THE VIETNAM WAR
When Terry was 18 years old, he was sent to fight in the Vietnam war. Back then, he was scrawny and weak and generally soft-hearted. The most formative part of his military experience was witnessing the death of one of his close friends, followed by being captured and held as a POW. He only survived his time as a POW because his best friend, John Kreese, stepped in and took his place in a fight to the death against their Captain. Kreese ended up winning the fight and Terry became devoutly loyal to him afterwards.1985 - LOYALTY & REVENGE
After the war, Terry threw himself into physical training because he never wanted to feel like he was too weak to fight ever again. He became a physical powerhouse, and was so confident and aggressive that he was nearly unrecognizable as the timid kid he was when he enlisted. Still desperately loyal to Kreese, he agreed to enact revenge on his behalf, which ended in humiliation when he failed.1986-2018 - REHABILITATING HIS IMAGE
After his revenge backfired, Kreese left Terry without a word for the next thirty years. Desperate and alone, Terry checked himself into therapy and rehab for his PTSD and cocaine addiction, respectively. After years of effort he managed to reform his public image, becoming known as a generous philanthropist and humanitarian activist.2019 - THE RETURN
Kreese returned thirty years later and immediately clocked that Terry was miserable with his new life and secretly craved the violence and debauchery that had defined their youth together. Terry tried to resist getting back together with Kreese, reasoning that he had a good life and was happy, but his will was quickly worn down and he went back to fight by Kreese's side again.2019 - DOWNFALL
Terry became obsessed with Kreese again, but realized that he was more concerned with his former student, Johnny, than he was with Terry. Kreese had always seen Johnny as a son, which made Terry quietly jealous, but he eventually snapped and framed Kreese for attempted murder as punishment for not paying enough attention to him. He was, of course, desperately lonely again after doing so. With no one to hold him back, he would expose his true, violent self to the world in the coming months, leading to his arrest.

MONSTER
appearance
Terry's monster form is a demon. He still somewhat resembles his human self in this form, but he has horns and pointed ears (ref), a long tail (ref), claws on his hands and feet (ref), and sharp teeth (ref). His most noticeable feature is his large, bat-like wings (ref) that feel velvety to the touch. His wings are capable of flight, and his tail is prehensile and can be used like a whip. All three of his extra limbs are incorporated into his fighting style, making him a formidable opponent in battle. Finally, his legs and torso are slightly elongated, taking him from 6'5" to a clean 7' tall.
POWER_LIST
Corruption | His presence subtly sways others into indulging in their vices and darkest desires. This effect is especially potent if he has hurt the other person enough to draw blood (biting, scratching, etc.) or if they come into contact with his blood. This effect is temporary, and how long it lasts depends on how much time they spent around him. This effect is opt-in; unaffected characters can be assumed to resist it.
Sensation Manipulation | Terry can manipulate pain and pleasure in himself and other people, either enhancing the sensation or numbing them to it completely. He can also mix them together (make pain feel a little or a lot like pleasure, and vice versa). This effect can be either temporary and wear off on its own, or be something that Terry actively has to remove, depending on player preference.
Binding | Other characters will be able to bind him and gain some control over him for the duration of the transformation. There is no one set way to do this: they can chain him, muzzle him, collar him, trap him in a circle of runes, or try any other method they think might work. It's more about the effort and desire to control him than the specific method. Although he'll fight back against it (for appearances and to test his opponent), he secretly craves this sort of relationship. When someone has bound him, he will feel compelled to obey their commands and act in their best interests. He will worship them, but expects praise and attention in return. If neglected, he'll turn against the one he's bound to. The bond will be broken when he either dies or returns to human form, and a new one will have to be forged (by the same character or a different one) next time he transforms.
behavior
In demon form, Terry retains most of his intelligence and basic personality (in other words: he feels enough like himself to suffer some guilt over his actions when he changes back), but his impulse control and capacity for moral reasoning are completely gone. The more he tries to hold back, and the more frightened he is of his monstrous form, the worse he ends up acting when he transforms. The lines between pain and pleasure become blurred at first, and then completely gone in the final stages of his transformation. Both giving and receiving pain feel as good as sex. Manipulativeness, obsession, and aggression are all dialed up.
Binding himself to another person (or monster) allows him to focus on carrying out their will, and thus it's the only time he can choose reason over indulgence. He's arrogant and thinks he's clever enough on his own, but without someone to focus on he'll almost inevitably fall to his own hedonism and pointlessly destructive behavior, becoming little more than a beast.

CHARACTERIZATION
FORMATIVE EXPERIENCES:
PHILOSOPHY: Terry believes that all is fair in love and war, so to speak. He doesn't have much in the way of a moral code and thinks that the end result is more important than whatever methods you used to get there. It's better to cheat and win than it is to be an honest loser. While he's a warrior at heart, he also puts more value on intelligence and strategy than he does on brute strength. He has no respect for the soft-hearted, but he's willing to nurture someone who is cunning even if they lack physical strength.
The one thing he does place a lot of value on is his close relationships with others. If he cares for someone, he'll do anything for them (and likely become codependent if they don't set firm boundaries). He expects the same level of devotion in return and will react violently if he feels betrayed or lied to by someone he cares about.
DESIRES: More than anything, Terry wants to be loved. He craves the kind of unrelenting, obsessive devotion he gives to others and he wants to be the center of someone's universe. Or at least a significant part of it. He's lived a very privileged life with wealth and status far beyond most people, and though he enjoys the perks that come with being in the 1% (and will try to pursue similar status wherever he goes) it never fully satisfies him unless he has someone to enjoy it with.
He also desires to let go of some of the self-restraint he's trained himself into having. More specifically, he wants someone he loves to give him permission to drop the nice guy act and be his horrible old self again, with the assurance that he'll still be lovable. But, see below, he's also afraid of that very same possibility.
FEARS: Despite his general lack of a moral code, part of Terry wants to believe that he's still a good person (or at the very least, that he's not an outright evil one). After the war he became completely unhinged and bloodthirsty, hooked on violence and sex and drugs, willing to go to extreme lengths to satisfy his desires. He appears to have calmed down in his old age, but only because he's been practicing denial and holding himself back. He's afraid that, deep down, he's still the person he tried to hard to repress (and yet, he still desires to let go of his self-restraint even though he's afraid of the consequences).
He's also afraid of being alone and uncared for, and can never quite figure out how to make lasting relationships work. Terry gives a lot of himself to his personal relationships (more than most people actually ask him for) and if they don't work out it leaves him feeling empty inside, like he's given too much away.

GAMEPLAY
SUITABILITY: Terry is a character that is obviously villainous on the surface (he's an actual over-the-top 80s action movie villain from a time when every bad guy just polluted the earth for fun) but struggles a lot with morality beneath that. He loves to scheme and cheat, but he also wants to be remembered as a really great guy. He tried to have his own redemption arc and it made him so miserable that he went back to being a jerk the second the opportunity came up, but he still feels kinda guilty about it. There are two qualities I especially want to play with here: his obsessive devotion to others, and his tendency to both be corrupted and to corrupt other people in turn. He's going to put up the weakest fight possible before inevitably giving in to his monstrous side and I am very excited to play with that.

The lines between pain and pleasure become blurred at first and then completely gone in the final stages of his transformation. Both giving and receiving pain feel as good as sex, and he can manipulate pain and pleasure in other people, too: he can increase the intensity of one or either, numb them to it, or switch them around so that pain feels like pleasure and pleasure feels like pain. His passive presence can encourage others to give in to their darkest desires, and this effect is especially enhanced if he scratches, bites, or whips the other person with his tail, or if they ingest his blood. Both this effect and the manipulation of pain and pleasure are temporary and will wear off, but the longer they're around him (and the more intensely they're involved with him), the longer it will last.
When he's in demon form, other characters will have the ability to bind him and gain some control over him for the duration of the transformation. There is no one set way to do this: they can chain him, muzzle him, collar him, trap him in a circle of runes, or try any other method they think might work. If neglected, he'll turn against the one he's bound to. The bond will be broken when he either dies or returns to human form, and a new one will have to be forged (by the same character or a different one) next time he transforms.
