[ She’s still figuring out how this part works, being able to reach out to another person just by thinking it. Yet, it works, and she’s too practical to deny the situation at hand. Thus: ]
One of my boys is here. Got too much energy. You up for sparring with him?
Of course. We're a little short on space given the weather but I'm sure everyone will agree that it's better to make room for some sparring than to risk another incident.
Terry, I have taken on a new cavalier and she needs to be trained in the sword. I don't have the time to train her myself and, frankly, I think you'd be a far better teacher of the blade than I could ever be.
I'd like to hire you give her formal training - a private arrangement between you and I. In exchange, I offer necromantic services should you need them.
He thinks about it when he's sleeping, when he's awake, when he's blowing glass and he's torn between rapt attention and a wandering mind. That rule almost shattered Murphy's knee... had Billy really wanted to hurt him. He doesn't want to hurt Murphy. There are others though that— ]
[ basically a private message in response to Quentin's post. ]
Hey. I'll bring Danny to this month's Moot Hall, and I'll have him on a short leash outside the town until that time. Happy for you to claim this is on your instruction, Praetor. For the safety of the people.
At first Daniel thinks it's a fluke, but the further he gets into the month, the more he realises that it's not just a coincidence. Last month, after Terry practically admitted to watching him through knowing about Daniel's monster features fading and then rapidly returning in December, he actually was able to spot the other man a few times while Daniel was out and about. But this month he isn't seeing Terry anywhere. It's almost as if the man is making an effort to avoid him.
But why? So soon after they kissed, too? Maybe this is some dumb mindgame to force Daniel to show he's desperate or something - he sure wouldn't put that past Terry. But at least half the month has already gone by, and if the other was honest about having waited decades for that kiss, then surely he wouldn't bother to hold back now. (See, Daniel's plenty smart to be able to overthink all of that - and yet his mind hasn't considered even once that the chastity devices might be the problem, given how little of a problem Daniel himself has with them.)
Whatever the reason is, Daniel just can't let it sit. The more he thinks about it, the more stupid it feels. What, Terry thinks he can harass Daniel for ages and then suddenly ignore him?
That's not how it works.
It's why he makes his way over to the one place he knows he's going to find Terry for sure - the fight club, of course. Even though Daniel lingers near the entrance at first, seeing if he can spot the older man. ]
[ Terry assumes that Daniel feels awkward about what happened at the orgy and will be more than happy to be rid of him for the rest of the month. As soon as he can fuck again, the boy is his, but until then he'll give him a break.
Imagine his surprise when he sees Daniel standing in the entrance of the club, the one place Terry frequents more than anything.
He purses his lips, unamused. Is Danny boy just being a brat? But his expression softens as he approaches the other man, not wanting to let him see how affected he is by his mere presence. ]
Danny boy. What brings you here?
[ Because he assumes it's not to fight. Defense only, blah blah blah. ]
[an hour or so after Jin Guangyao helps retrieve the grotesque display of human remains at the moot hall (and makes a few unpleasant discoveries along the way), he reaches out to Terry. his inquiry is a politely restrained one; they are strangers to each other, after all.]
Greetings, xiansheng, [he begins, pauses, then amends,] my apologies, laoshi. [from what information he has gleaned, Terry is a teacher. of a sort.] I am called Jin Guangyao. Would you have time to speak with me today? It concerns swords.
[ You have no idea how long he's been pacing back and forth, debating himself on whether or not to contact the other at all.
And yet-- here he is. ]
Terry.
[ See, there's hesitation even after the name, like Daniel is considering just letting his thoughts move on entirely and not getting back to the other if Terry does try to reply. But-- ugh. ]
Please tell me you aren't about to do something stupid.
